TWO fire crews from North Tawton and Okehampton released a man ten feet above ground who had his hand trapped underneath a sawn tree branch last Friday.

The crews were called to North Tawton just after 1pm and used hydraulic equipment to release the man's arm. He was left in the care of ambulance personnel for precautionary checks.

l The following day North Tawton were called out again at 1pm, this time to a report of a man stuck on the roof of a building in North Street, North Tawton. The man, who was on the roof to paint the chimney pot, was rescued using a 135ft ladder.

l On Sunday, at approximately 9pm, Okehampton Fire Station was called to a car fire at Appledore Hill near the town.

A hose reel and two breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the fire.

The car was severely damaged.
