THE flag at Torridge District Council’s offices was flying at half-mast last week as a mark of respect to former councillor Ann Mounce who died on October 14, aged 77.
Ann Mounce was a councillor at Torridge for two terms — 1999-2003 and 2003-2007 — and was an active member on many committees, including housing, planning, scrutiny and standards. She was well respected by her fellow councillors and particularly by the local community whom she diligently represented.
Leader Jane Whittaker said: ‘I was so sad to hear the news about Ann. She was unstinting in her support of local activities. I always knew she was a very hard working councillor and was hugely respected throughout her ward and indeed within the wider Torridge area.’
Deputy leader James Morrish said: ‘Ann Mounce was hard working, sound and loyal, particularly to her local constituents in Northam and to Torridge as a whole. I was proud to have worked with her and she will be missed.’
