THE Okehampton Festival of Food and Music is to take place this weekend.
After two successful years of the event the Okehampton and District Chamber of Trade is holding the event again on Saturday, July 4.
The event, which celebrates local food and music, will take place throughout the town with even more food stalls and different styles of music than at previous festivals. The event ties into 'Independents' Day', an initiative promoting independent businesses and encouraging people to use independent shops in their communities.
The chair of the chamber of trade Donna Tombs has said that the third festival 'promises to be much bigger than ever before'.
Entertainment will include the Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band, Troubadour's Garden, Okehampton Acoustic Club plus many more musicians wandering around the town and cafes. There will also be Morris dancing throughout the day.
In the afternoon, Two Birds Kitchen catering group will be in the Charter Hall serving traditional Devonshire cream teas and judging a baking competition for children. At 7.30pm Wren Music's folk café will be in All Saints Church Hall.
