WEST Devon Connect and the Fire and Rescue Service are teaming up to offer free fire safety advice and the opportunity to take up a free home fire safety visit. Fire safety officers will be attending West Devon Connect?s regular surgery at the Arundell Arms, Lifton, between 9.30am and noon on Wednesday November 7 to provide advice and guidance to householders on fire and home safety needs. This will include developing escape plans in the event of fire and, if necessary, supplying and fitting smoke detectors free of charge. Community fire safety officer, Paul Baker, said: ?I can?t overstate the importance of having working smoke detectors installed in your home and would urge all local residents to come along to the Arundell Arms on Wednesday morning to take up the free service provided.? The surgeries provide opportunities to find out about the different services the council and others offer to local residents. As well as the Fire and Rescue Services there will be Tavistock Area Support Services, Lifton Community Centre Project and Lifton Parish Council.
