PUPILS, teachers, parents, relatives and friends enjoyed some good old fashioned fun at Stoke Climsand Primary School’s Summer Fair and Family Fun Day on July 9, which managed to raise £2,000 for the school.
The local community turned out in force to explore the various stalls and activities that were held in the school — a jumble sale, games stall and cake sale to name but a few.
Each year group came up with their own ideas for stalls, there was a tombola, wet sponge throwing, apple bobbing, guessing games, a coconut shy, and a basketball shootout game. All of the stalls were set up by and managed by the children and their teachers.
The playing field offered a whole host of things to do, including a burger stall as well as a vintage merry-go-round, which a school spokesperson said was very popular with the children.
Cotehele Gig Club showcased their new gig boat with an accompanying rowing challenge and Colin Jayne was also there with his vintage tractor display.
All of the money raised will go towards improving school facilities and school trip opportunities for the pupils. The school is currently trying to raise enough money to upgrade the IT systems and make a state of the art interactive learning environment in each classroom.
