THE Rotary Club of Tavistock had another successful year raising funds for charity at Goosey Fair.
The club's two geese were, as ever, the only ones to appear on the main fair site in Plymouth Road.
More than 600 attempts were made to guess the combined weight of the two geese on camped out on Abbey Surgery's lawn.
They weighed 33lbs 2ozs — or 15.06kg.
The event was won by Mrs F Menadu, of Tavistock with her guess of 15kg. Mrs Menadu chose the option of a £40 cash prize rather than receiving a dressed goose.
The event made a net sum of more than £450 and the club's other stall sold over 400 books with an income of £230.
The combined figure will be used for the club's charitable causes.
Rotary Club president John Morton said showing the geese reminded the crowds what Goosey Fair was all about and raised the local profile of Rotary.
He said he very much appreciated the ongoing generosity of the community in supporting the club's fundraising activities during the year.
