OKEHAMPTON Library is getting into the spirit of the Rugby World Cup with the ‘Reading Passport’ project.

The ‘passports’ and the ‘Read XV’ book are available in the library now.

The project supports library membership and writers by offering an innovative and engaging way to encourage readers to explore a wider range of reading for pleasure.

This year the passport has plenty of rugby-related reads. Exeter Chiefs players have been taking part in the campaign by reading some of the featured books.

This year’s programme is bigger than ever with free writer’s workshops with authors around the South West and extra resources on the website www.readingpassport. org.

The project is a partnership between the South Western Regional Library Service (SWRLS), Literature Works and Devon Libraries.

It has received additional support from the Royal Literary Fund and Arts Council England.

‘Read XV’ is also supported by Arts Council England.

Councillor Roger Croad, Devon County Council’s cabinet member responsible for Devon Libraries, said: ‘We are all enjoying the excitement of the Rugby World Cup, especially with Exeter hosting three matches. There are plenty of rugby related reads in this year’s passport to keep you busy in between matches, with autobiographies, historical reads and even a cookbook!’
