MEMBERS of Girlguiding in Tavistock are again organising a Christmas postal service — a tradition that goes back 25 years.

This is an excellent fundraiser for the local organisation whilst providing a reduced cost postal service to the local community, delivering to recipients in Tavistock town and Whitchurch village. Unfortunately the guides will be unable to deliver to surrounding villages and outlying areas.

The scheme works by customers purchasing special blue 25p stamps from Tavistock Guides, Brownies and Rainbows or from various outlets around the town. The outlets will have a poster in the window saying stamps are available there.

Cards can then be deposited in special post boxes before the closing date of December 18, after which they are sorted and delivered by members of Tavistock Girlguiding.

The special blue post boxes are available at the outlets in town as well as Tavistock Methodist Church and Guide Headquarters at the entrance to the Bedford Car Park.

The postal delivery will take place over the weekend of December 19 and 20. To avoid disappointment customers are requested to ensure envelopes are correctly and clearly addressed.
