Staddiscombe 2

Tavistock 2

STADDISCOMBE were strong and won the ball by hard challenges. Tamsin Bryant annoyed the defence with runs down the left wing and Kim Davey was always a threat. The defence of Meg Blackmore, Sarah Barrett and Joy Page excelled themselves.

Robynne Honey capably gathered everything up and with the wind in Tavistock?s favour her long kicks caused problems for Staddiscome.

Bryant ran down the wing and her cross was met by Davey who smashed low into the net.

Tavistock lost Blackmore through injury but Heidi Davies slotted in to cover.

Page continued to push up from defence and a long shot floated into the top of the net.

Staddiscombe broke through to smash past Honey.

The second half saw Staddiscombe play a long ball in. Honey managed to grab it but a nudge knocked the ball to the ground enabling Staddiscombe to tap home.

A draw at full time resulted in ten minutes each way followed by a penalty shoot-out which Staddiscombe won 2-1.

The defence had little to do but when called upon Ruth Cole, Laura Corrales and Galway did their job.
