Ancient Egyptians came to Lifton Primary School — though some of them had a rather modern twist.

Gawen Robinson's musical 'Glint of Gold' started with Howard Carter's discovery of Tutenkhamen's tomb in 1922. As Carter and his companions explored the treasures in the tomb, the hieroglyphics on the wall came to life and showed them what life in Ancient Egypt was really like.

Tuneful songs with witty lyrics introduced royalty like the boy-king Tutenkhamen and Queen Hatshepsut, together with gods like dog-headed Anubis and Osiris, a decidedly rock 'n' roll King of the Dead.

A gentle, ethereal song told of the importance of the stars in their belief system, as Osiris took Tutenkhamen up to live among the stars.

Excellent acting and singing, colourful costumes and makeup added to the atmosphere.
