THE ten-piece ensemble from Hatherleigh Silver Band hit all the right notes at a recent band contest at Corsham in Wiltshire.

The day turned out to be a great success when the ensemble, taking part its its first competition of this kind, won first prize, and soloist Carl Woodison beat eleven other cornet players from the South West to win the under 10 years of age class.

Hatherleigh Silver Band, which recently played at the opening of the ?Love, Labour and Loss Exhibition?, depicting 400 years of farming, through art, held in the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter, can next be seen playing at Hatherleigh Carnival on November 9 and at the Remembrance Parade in the town the following morning.
