A TAVISTOCK College student hopes to pursue a career in golf following a string of outstanding results.
Bridie Sampson, 14, played in her latest competition - a Devon junior golf tournament at Dawlish Warren - on Sunday. The young golfer performed extremely well, despite never having played on the course before.
The Year 10 student has collected trophies, medals and vouchers in competitions at Tavistock Golf Club and beyond. She came sixth out of 114 ladies in one tournament, beating adults several times her age.
Bridie said: 'I've been playing golf for four years; I took it up aged 10. My dad got me involved because he plays and he's quite an inspiration. I want to get quite far and see what I can make out of it. I hope to be able to study golf course management after I finish school. I really enjoy being part of Tavistock Golf Club and I've met people like me; people I really like to hang around with.'
Bridie plans to keep improving her game so she can play on famous courses. She hopes to pursue a career in golf as a professional or coach.
'I'd like to thank my dad and mum for inspiring me and my brother because he's always there when I need him,' she added.
