MID Devon Pony Club members Rosie Lyon Smith, Elinor Townshend, Fay Hirst and Kate Bilton ended the tetrathlon season in great style, finishing in second place in the novice junior class at the Eggesford PC event.
The girls started well, with Fay, Elinor and Kate all having personal best shoot scores. On the running course, Rosie and Kate finished in pb times; and finally, in the pool, all four girls managed their best swims of the year.
At the end of the day, they were in third place, needing good ride scores to improve their position. Rosie was the first team member to set off round Southcott's testing course, and she went clear as did Elinor with Kate having just one unlucky stop and Fay riding her best round of the year, the girls riding had moved them up into second place overall. Individually, Rosie finished fifth and Kate sixth. Mid Devon also had three younger members competing and they were in the prizes as well. Robert Bilton was competing in his first ever tetrathlon and did superbly to finish third in the assisted mini class, while Maddy Earp in the same class also had a personal best and finished in sixth place.
In the mixed mini class, Laurie Bilton, had a pb run and riding clear on his new pony for the first time.
