AN event especially for the youth of the Bere Peninsula has been described as a huge success by its organisers.

The Youth 2 Youth Awareness evening at Bere Alston Parish Hall at the end of January was organised to show the community what opportunities Youth 2 Youth provides, and to supply parents with information about what is available for their children in Bere Alston.

Jen Potts, a youth worker for the Bere Peninsula, said: 'It was a big success with a lot of community support.

'It was great to see support from Tavistock College and Bere Alston United — the village's other youth club.

'The young people put on an amazing show of talent including break-dancing and poi.'

Youth 2 Youth will continue to provide activities for young people on a weekly basis at 'The Hut' in the village.

Wednesday evenings at The Hut are for year 7 and upwards and Thursday evenings are for a more chilled out drop in session for year 9s and above.

Both evenings run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
