THE Devon and Exeter League held its annual meeting last Saturday, where promotion and relegation issues were confirmed for the premier division.
Promoted from premier into the Firewatch Devon League were St Loyes from Exeter, while at the other end Budleigh Salterton, Cullompton and Hatherleigh Town were all relegated into senior division one.
Two teams will be coming down from the Firewatch Devon League to join the premier division, Topsham Town and Heavitree Utd. They will be joined by Exmouth Town Reserves and Axminster Town, both promoted from senior division one.
The premier division 16-team line-up will be: Axminster Town, Buckland Athletic, Exeter Civil Service, Exmouth Town, Feniton, Heavitree Utd, Okehampton Argyle, Pinhoe, St Martin?s, Seaton Town, Sidmouth Town, Thorverton, Topsham Town, University, Willand Rovers and Witheridge.
If anything this will be a stronger league than last year, with first elevens replacing reserve sides.
The winners of the Bill Rees Sportsmanship Shield for 2003/2004 was Mid Devon village side, Witheridge, who just pipped Buckland Athletic who finished in second place.
