ST LUKE'S Hospice in Plymouth is urging schools, businesses, clubs or individuals in West Devon to get in the mood for Christmas and raise money for a good cause by taking part in its 'Festive Friday' campaign.
For schools, whether it is Christmas jumpers or non uniform day, a Christmas bake sale or dressing as your favourite festive character, there are so many fun ways to support St Luke's.
It could even be turned into a whole day of activities, with colouring competitions, quizzes and a raffle.
From hairdressers to offices, restaurants to shops, everyone and anyone can take part in Festive Friday.
Add a little fun into your workplace by encouraging colleagues to work in fancy dress or Christmas jumpers or ask your customers to make a small donation.
It is estimated that over the Christmas week, around 387 patients will be receiving specialist end of life care from St Luke's.
A spokesman for St Luke's said: 'Spare a thought for our patients who will be spending time in our in patient unit at Turnchapel this Christmas.
' Your Festive Friday will help us care for these people on Christmas Day to ensure they have the specialist care they need.
'Some of our patients will be having a visit from one of our Specialist Community Nurses at their home over the Christmas period.
Your Festive Friday will help us keep them out of hospital and at home with their family, wherever home may be — Plymouth, Tavistock or the South Hams.
'For some of our patients, home isn't an option and the St Luke's Hospital Team will be busy working alongside the doctors and nurses at Derriford Hospital.
'Your Festive Friday will help us bring Christmas to the hospital wards.'
St Luke's need to raise over £4 million each year to continue to offer this expert care to local people for free and they can only do it with your help.
Eighty five pence of every £1 you raise on Festive Friday will go to help one of St Luke's patients, at home, in hospital or the hospice this Christmas.
