DARTMOOR Sunday Rover started last Sunday and will run until September 22, with many new features allowing for a wide variety of circular trips.

The network — which also operates on public holidays — stretches from Bovey Tracey to Barnstaple and Totnes to Tintagel, with tickets costing £6 for adults, £4 for children, £12 for a family and £4,50 for senior citizens with a Devonwide pass.

Ticket holders can hop on and off the network as they wish and enjoy discount on admission prices to various attractions, including Lydford Gorge, Castle Drogo, Buckland Abbey and Morwellham Quay.

Dartmoor National Park Authority runs a programme of guided walks, talks and events throughout the year, many accessible by public transport and free with a Sunday Rover ticket.

In addition, the Tamar Valley Line service operates a varied programme of events, many of which link with the network and river services, and on summer Sundays the Dartmoor Railway runs from Exeter to Okehampton, forming part of the network and allowing easy access to Dartmoor.

For a trip back in time, service 174 is normally operated by a classic 1950s coach and 118 by a classic double-decker from the 1960s, complete with conductor.

Days out leaflets, suggesting three easy-to-follow days out by bus and train using the Sunday Rover ticket, are available from post offices, tourist information centres and libraries.
