Tavistock Thistles U15s FC 4

THIS cup-tie had all the ingredients for a first class game as the teams were closely matched.

Thistles with the slope in their favour failed to capitalise on a string of through balls from the midfield and with their first real attack Chaddlewood went ahead with a well worked goal.

A second goal quickly followed.

Thistles with their backs against the wall started the fightback and by half-time had drawn level with a goalmouth scramble converted by Patrick Johnson and a superb corner by David Yorith being headed in by the in-form Ben Sharland.

The uphill slope suited the Thistles forwards who had more time to latch onto the ball. After a string of corners Peter Davies drove the ball home to make it 3-2 to Thistles. James Hobbs sealed the game when he met a low cross and rifled the bell into the roof of the net.

The game finished with Thistles well on top and looking forward to their third final in three years, which hopefully will be at the Argyle ground at Home Park.
