BELSTONE Cricket Club had a weekend of mixed fortunes. On Saturday their team included six Colts players when they visited Tedburn St Mary.
Belstone elected to bat first on a wicket with low bounce and mustered a hard fought 96 runs.
In reply, Tedburn found scoring difficult against mainly young Belstone attack, supported by enthusiastic fielding, eventually reaching the Belstone total with three wickets remaining.
However, on Sunday Ide were the visitors to Rew Meadow for Belstone's first ever South Devon League fixture.
Ide, on winning the toss, elected to bat first but were always struggling against a tight Belstone bowling attack, again supported by some first rate fielding. In particular, two spectacular catches by Cowley and Gomersall seemed to knock the stuffing out of the visitors.
The Belstone vice-captain, Willis, finished with the impressive figures of 5 wickets for 15 runs. In reply, Belstone easily reached the modest Ide total for the loss of two wickets.
This Sunday Belstone are at home to Teign Valley.
