Devon and Exeter League Premier Division Thorverton 3 Okehampton Argyle 0 ARGYLE were hoping to push Thorverton all the way in their search for vital league points from this league encounter. But again a terrible start changed the quest for points to one of keeping a respectable scoreline. A free kick awarded awarded to Thorverton 40 yards out after just four minutes did not seem to pose much of a threat. But Adrian Andrews? kick found a gap in the wall, and keeper Chris Dearing let the ball slip from his grasp into the net. Two minutes later and Argyle were two down. This time a high bouncing ball into the penalty area was again misjudged by keeper Dearing, who let it bounce over his outstretched hands as he came off his line. Defender James Williams also had a chance to clear, but was brushed off the ball by Harris who then shot into the empty net. Argyle did settle after this early setback, but did not have the punch up front to cause Thorverton any problems. A third goal after 35 minutes as good as sealed a victory for the home side. Andrews was again the scorer, beating the offside trap before shooting past Dearing at the second attempt. Okehampton restored some pride for the remaining 55 minutes, but this will be a game they would rather forget. Other results in the league didn?t do Argyle any favours, with the two bottom clubs, Feniton and Willand Rovers, both recording rare victories. This weekend there is another double match fixture. On Good Friday Argyle travel to Feniton for what will be a six-pointer. Kick-off 3 pm. On Easter Monday Buckland Athletic will be the visitors to Simmons Park with again a 3 pm kick-off. Regardless of the results for the rest of the season, the existing management team will be stepping down to make way for a new manager next year. Argyle are looking for someone with previous Senior experience, with an FA coaching level 1 certificate preferred. Anyone interested should contact club chairman Alan King on 01837 54951.
