South Zeal Utd . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .6
Northlew . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1
ZEAL struggled in the first half to take advantage of a huge amount of possession. Northlew's five man defence were coping well with Zeal's attack and when Zeal did get a chance the visitors keeper pulled off some great saves.
However Zeal did manage to go into the second half one up when Harley Cann hit an unstoppable shot into the top right hand corner of the visitors' goal.
In the second half Leon Ware, Zeal's right wing back, was causing the Northlew defence all sorts of problems with his pace, and eventually he was rewarded as he latched onto a good through ball and coolly beat the keeper.
Northlew started to come more into the game and they reduced the deficit to one after a great strike from the edge of the penalty area flew into the top corner giving Neil Clift in the Zeal goal no chance.
Northlew were pushing for the equaliser but some resolute defending by Zeal kept them in front and after weathering the storm Zeal went 3-1 up when Reg Wonnacott and Garry Smith combined with the latter scoring from close range from an indirect free kick.
It was now all Zeal and Harley Cann rounded off a great display by scoring two more goals for his hat trick. Leon Ware also added to his tally after Shaun Hiscock had flicked the ball on with his head from a throw in to allow Leon an easy header from close range.
Next week Away to Tedburn KO 2-30pm.
