STARTING in September a new darts league, sponsored by Dartmoor Brewery Limited of Princetown is about to get on the 'oche.'

To be known as the Jail Ale Darts League it will consist of around a dozen teams. Six of the teams involved will be joining from the Yelverton and District league along with two new teams - British Legion and the Walkhampton Inn.

The other teams are the Plume of Feathers, Prince of Wales, Burrator Inn, Devon Tors B, Leaping Salmon A and B.

League secretary Ralph Millard said: 'It is intended to limit the total number of teams to 12 so that all games can be played on a Friday. The area covered by this league will be north of the Roborough Café as far as Tavistock, west to Buckland Monochorum and east to Princetown.

'There will be a meeting at the Burrator Inn on July 16 at 7.30pm and if any new team within the above boundaries wishes to join they are welcome to come along and enrol.'

The officers already elected at the league's inaugural meeting are Peter Gibson as chairman, Ralph Millard as secretary and Tony Mills as treasurer.
