HIGHAMPTON is preparing for a fantastic summer fun day on Saturday July 2, bringing the community together to celebrate village life, meet new friends and support the primary school and hall.
Following the success of last year's event to celebrate the village school centenary, it was decided to initiate an annual event bringing the community together. As a result, the school PTFA and village hall committee organised an afternoon of fun, games and activities followed by a barbecue and evening of live music and entertainment.
Germaine Andrew, chairman of the PTFA, said: 'Last year's event brought the whole village together and we are keen to keep this going. It's an opportunity to get everyone together, have fun and even meet new people.
'There will be something for everyone to enjoy, from strawberries and cream for tea, pony rides, street dancing, games of rounders and wellie throwing, as well as a whole variety of traditional stalls.'
Events begin at Highampton Primary School from 3pm, with a fete and barbecue supper at 6pm. The evening's events move to the village hall at 8pm, with a bar and live music from The Ratters. Tickets are available on the door, costing £5 for adults, £2 for children and £12 for families. For further information call Germaine Andrew on 01409 231720.
