THIS was another lacklustre performance from Okehampton. Perhaps the thought of an Okehampton Cup match on Sunday against South Zeal, and another league match on Monday evening versus Buckland Athletic, affected their outlook on this game.
They started brightly enough with good chances during the first 15 minutes, but after that Budleigh gained the upper hand, although not turning their superiority into goals.
They too came close to scoring on a couple of occasions. with first Loyd Chapman blocking a shot on the goal line and not long after the woodwork coming to Argyle's rescue.
But on 35 minutes Argyle presented Budleigh with a soft goal, keeper Sean Sandercock decided to go walkabout some way outside the penalty box trying to clear the ball, but instead it fell kindly for Jim Nield for him to lob the ball back into the unguarded net.
Budleigh went further ahead five minutes later when Scott Bellamy scored from the penalty spot, after a hotly disputed penalty.
Almost straight from the kick off, Argyle managed to pull a goal back. A good attack down the right flank ended with a cross from Robbie Clark being forced over the line by James Williams.
Argyle tried very hard to find the equaliser in the second half, but chances were few and far between.
Argyle play neighbours and bottom of the league Hatherleigh Town, when they meet at Simmons Park on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
