Carlsberg South West Premier Division
Buckland Athletic 0
Tavistock AFC 3
TAVISTOCK travelled to the high flying Buckland Athletic last Saturday and came away with all three points, after a convincing win by three goals to nil.
This result gets the Lambs back among the leading pack in the table, with games in hand on the other teams.
The game started at a high tempo and both sides missed an early chance to take the lead. Play then remained even for most of the first half, but with half-time approaching Glynn Hobbs out-muscled the Buckland centre half and got in on goal to slot the ball past the advancing keeper into the net.
Tavistock took control in the second half and dominated the play.
It was no surprise that on 60 minutes they got their second goal of the game, when Mike Arscott scored with a magnificent strike from 25 yards low into the corner of the net.
With 15 minutes remaining the Lambs sealed victory when they got a third goal. Hobbs ran down the right flank before crossing for Chris Menhennick to slot home from six yards. Tavistock could have got a fourth were it not for a fine stop by the Buckland keeper.
This was a great all round team performance and will give the side confidence as they move into a very busy programme of fixtures until Christmas.
l This Saturday Tavistock visit Wadebridge Town, kick-off 3pm. The reserves are at home to Probus with a 2.30pm start.
Next Wednesday the first team are at home to Ivybridge in the St Lukes Bowl, kick-off 7.30pm.
