Carlsberg South Western League
Liskeard 2
Tavistock 0
THE Lambs were without three pivotal players, captain Nathan Blamey in defence, Paul Smith in midfield and up front Paul Adcock through suspension. But in came the Bere Alston brigade in the shape of Darren Halfyard and Will Westlake to the starting line-up and Steve Daymond and Rob Hawkins to sit on the bench.
Liskeard, kicking up the slope in the first half, forced the issue and the Lambs were fortunate to keep a clean sheet after 20 minutes. Sean Cann lost possession in midfield for Lee Harvey to close down on goal but Andy Meeds denied him to deflect the ball for a corner.
The home side continued to dominate from the start of the second half with Meeds saving from Matt Strickland and ex-Lamb Gary Williams shooting over.
Controversy reigned as Westlake raced clear from the halfway line with appeals from the home side for handball but play continued and he shot just wide. It was just as well as play was pulled back for the offence.
The Lambs held out until the last 15 minutes when the home side got the breakthrough they deserved.
Lee Maddox had only been on the field for a few minutes and sent in a cross that Harvey glanced home. The roles were reversed two minutes later as Harvey became provider to return the ball into the path of Maddox to seal victory.
Too many of the regular side out and a rearguard action meant it was not a good Friday for the Lambs.
