LAURA Eastwood, from Yelverton Golf Club's ladies' section, was one of five girls from Devon who competed in a major tournament in Usk, Monmouthshire.

It proved a memorable day for Laura — she became the new South West Junior Girl champion in the under 18s competition — the first time the title holder has come from Devon since 1984.

Competitors at the event, the English Ladies' Golf Association's SW Junior Championship for U18s, were from six South West counties amd two Welsh counties.
