Devon Intermediate Cup third round
Lamerton 1
Lee Moor 2
LAMERTON bowed out of the cup after a closely fought contest against their well organised P&D opponents.
Playing with the wind in the first half, the home side had the better of the first half hour with several good chances to take the lead. Steve Wickett twice got behind the visitors? defence and shot just wide but the best chance fell to Andy Williams who again failed to convert. Half-time came with the scoreline blank.
The visitors began the second half the stronger and started to dominate possession but chances were scarce. When the first goal did come it was totally unexpected.
Richard Cameron latched onto a bouncing ball in the Lamerton half, looked up and smacked it over Pete Daniel from 40 yards out.
Lamerton bounced back strongly and with ten minutes to go Kev Fedrick equalised in a goalmouth scramble. With the mist closing in and extra time looming Lee Moor had the last laugh when their captain Dean Newport cracked in the winner to take his side into the last sixteen.
Both teams deserve credit for playing a competitive game sportingly in trying conditions and referee Maurice Beckenham played his part in keeping it flowing.
This Saturday Lamerton resume league action with a re-arranged game at home to Bere Alston, Looe having cup committments.
