APPLICATIONS for Okehampton Battle of the Bands have been steadily arriving from across the South West since organisers started accepting entries more than a month ago.
Event spokesman Chris Hodgson said: 'Each year the quality of the acts gets better and better — 2012 is going to be a fantastic year for the Okehampton Battle of the Bands.'
The competition promises to be better than ever, with the BOTB committee planning the biggest ever party in the park finale.
Four unsigned acts will compete at the event for a haul of great prizes, including a recording package from Alive Music, a custom guitar from Earthworks Guitar, and billing at local music festivals Chagstock and TavisRock.
The day's events will culminate with a performance from headliners Joey The Lips, who promise to bring a party atmosphere to the show.
Alongside the music there will be a bar and catering, laser quest, inflatables and other attractions to keep everyone entertained.
The competition is sponsored by Stevens Estate Agents, the Plymouth Inn and Herbs 'n' Spices, and the support from many other local businesses has helped to ensure the event will be bigger than ever before.
