THE lucky winner of a Gunnislake raffle will have the honour of lighting up the centre of the village this Saturday (December 2).

The unknown winner will get the chance to turn on the Christmas lights in front of peers at around 6.30pm.

Plus, there will be bigger and better Christmas lanterns at the village craft cafe where visitors and residents can enjoy the now traditional colourful lantern procession leaving Fosters Field at 6pm accompanied by Polly on the accordion.

Everyone can then join in the festivities to the sound of the village samba band, enjoy hot dogs and burgers, mulled wine and mince pies. Father Christmas will also be making an appearance.

Lorna Baker from the Gunnislake Community Matters project said: ’Thanks very much to generous Gunnislake residents who have once again supported the village Christmas Lights project. Special thanks to local car salesman Chris Venning for his generosity and to our Cornwall County Councillor Dorothy Kirk who has also helped with a grant.

’The local support group, Gunnislake Community Matters, really look forward to hosting a sparkling fun-filled evening.’

• KELLY Bray’s Christmas lights will be turned on this Sunday (December 3).
