AN inspirational man travelling the length and breadth of Britain to raise money for charity visited Exbourne last Saturday as part of his challenge.
Ex paratrooper Mark Newton is travelling around the country on a mobility scooter with his two cats to raise funds for Help for Heroes, RNLI, SSAFA and the Royal British Legion as part of his ‘Around Britain’ challenge.
On August 15 Mark and some friends visited the Burrow community shop and café enjoying some Burrow breakfasts.
In the evening, Mark was special guest at an acoustic night hosted by an ex-comrade in arms Ray Churchill, which was held in the village hall. Entertainment was provided by Daisy Perkins and Nadrah Al Shawi.
Tony Madge of SSAFA gave a brief explanation of the work that the charity does for both serving and ex-serving personnel. The evening was very well attended and raised £334 for the charities.
Ray, Mark and Tony thanked all those who supported the event and were so generous with their time and money.
