A WEST Devon pre-school raised several hundreds of pounds at its belated May Fair recently.
Lifton Pre-school welcomed visitors to the fair with cream teas, hot dogs and a barbecue.
Children from Lifton Primary School entertained with maypole dancing. The event raised £830.
This year, a royal-themed fancy dress competition was held, and winning entries were a King of Hearts playing card, the Lion King and a Prince and Princess, who all won prizes donated by Vanstones Garage Launceston.
There was plenty to keep everyone entertained for the afternoon.
Hamblys Ltd loaned a Claas tractor which was filled with balloons for visitors to guess the amount, face painting, a bouncy castle, hoop-la, net a duck, Aunt Sally, beat the goalie, a children's pirate treasure hunt, skittles and stocks as well as the normal tombolas and raffles.
This year some of the funds raised will be used to give the children the opportunity to enjoy a rain-forest adventure.
A 'costumed adventurer' will make a special detour to the pre-school with a range of exotic animals from an endangered part of the world.
The remaining funds will be used to provide new toys and equipment for both the pre-school and toddler group.
