I WOULD like to thank all the people who sent cards and messages to Martin, following the printing of his letter informing friends and customers of his change of address when he retired from GT Printers, St James Street, to his new home in Wales.

Martin had many plans for how to fill his time, walking dogs in the mountains, continuing to develop his interest in photography and enjoying life in general. Arrangements were already in place for us to attend the Okehampton Show.

His health problems meant he made several visits to the local hospital both as a day patient and as an inpatient, so he was able to reply too many of the correspondence he received.

He was also able to enjoy a visit back to Wales back in June made by his dog-walking lady friends (and John Stevens).

Unfortunately, Martin was unable to enjoy a full and active retirement as he died on July 18 at home. He was cremated here in Wales and an informal farewell held at Okehampton Rugby Club on July 19.

On behalf of the family I would like to thank the people of Okehampton for all their messages of condolence. I would also like to personally thank the rugby club for accommodating the farewell for Martin, all those who attended, Paul Wilson for his performance and the donations, totalling £260 for St Davids Hospice Foundation.

Martin was a man of great humanity. He was kind, gentle, funny loyal and loving and will be missed by all who knew him.
