BOTH the Mount House Colts soccer teams were in action in away fixtures last week against Stover School at Newton Abbot, winning one match and losing the other. The Colts A team enjoyed a successful start to their season. They settled quickly and dominated to the extent that their keeper, Ralph Dawson, only touched the ball a few times, and his goal was never really threatened. Danny Goldstone did well in defence, and the partnership between George Lundy and Ollie Sale looked promising when pushing forward. Mount House took the lead towards the end of the first half when a long shot from Freddie Cave came back off the Stover keeper to George Lundy. His shot was blocked, but Tom Jackman was on hand to put in the rebound. The second goal came midway through the second half. Lundy picked out Ollie Sale who dribbled into the penalty area and drew the keeper before unselfishly squaring the ball to Jackman to net his second to seal a 2-0 victory. The Colts B XI showed tenacity and dominated possession for much of their match, only to lose to an unlucky and disputed goal late in the game. The Mount House youngsters continued to battle in vain, but should take great encouragement from their performance.
