VOLUNTEER litter pickers were joined by the West Devon and Torridge MP who was armed with a bin bag to mark 'Make a Difference Day'.

Geoffrey Cox was invited by Billie Burnett from the West Devon Centre for Volunteers, who this year decided to support the Tidy Tavi group with their monthly litter pick, joining volunteers, town mayor Ann Johnson and Tavistock County Councillor Debo Sellis, under the slogan 'Be a difference maker'.

Mr Cox said: 'It is always a pleasure to see first hand the efforts of our volunteers, and raise the profile of our valued local charities that support so many within communities. I am thoroughly impressed with the commitment I saw from the Tidy Tavi team — who meet each month to litter pick around Tavistock.

'I was most grateful to the West Devon Centre for Volunteers for inviting me to take part. There is such satisfaction to be gained from volunteering, and I encourage more people to sign up and get involved, the centre does excellent work locally and supports many good causes.'
