South Devon premier division
East Allington Utd 3
Chagford 2
'We've just had our season's worth of luck in one day' were the words of East Allington, after a match in which Chagford were to be denied a morale-boosting result.
This was despite Chagford being decimated by absence and injury.
The visitors enjoyed the better part of a contested first half and two Williams' goals, to a single reply from their hosts, gave them a half-time lead. From there it was to all go downhill, as they struggled to hold that lead.
A crazy own goal gave East Allington an equaliser, then Chagford were denied, what they claimed to be, two apparently cast-iron penalty claims and eventually succumbed to a late winner.
On the whole, this was a more encouraging show from Chagford and they should now be looking to build on this.
The reserve teamers drafted in also contributed manfully to the day and this also should be looked at in good heart.
l This weekend sees Chagford entertain an improving Brixham Villa, with the Reserves making the short trip to Teign Village Reserves. Both matches kick-off at 2.30pm.
