EAGLE-EYED Times reader Chris Walpole has once again being able to shed light on a recent ‘Those Were the Days’ photograph.

Chris from Belstone showed the photo (August 27, page 38) to several people in the village and has ascertained it is the Belstone Youth Club’s float at Okehampton Carnival in 1976. The youth group had only been formed at the end of 1975 with an annual sub of 20p, 5p to pay per meeting. At the first meeting on December 4, 1975 29 children were present.
