TWO new top officers have taken up their roles at Yelverton Rotary Club.
Taking over as president is Gillian Parker, who lives on Dartmoor and who is married to Tony Parker, who also this year has been elected president of the Tavistock Rotary Club. They are the first husband and wife top team to lead local Rotary clubs.
Gillian retired as Chief Constable of Bedfordshire Police in 2010. Gillian is committed to charitable work and said Rotary's motto of 'Service above Self' mirrored her experience of policing.
'I am really looking forward to continuing the wonderful work that The Rotary Club of Yelverton does in the local area and supporting international initiatives such as the Jaipur Limb Project,' said Gillian.
Gillian is the fourth consecutive female president at the Yelverton Club. She will be assisted by the new president-elect, Ross Dent, who lives in Yelverton and is the managing director of Sunrise Windows Ltd of Plympton, Plymouth.
