ST Mellion International Resort's new golf academy manager brings impressive coaching qualifications and links to a number of superstars.

Richard Janes, 25, has moved around the country – and the world – gaining experience in a broad range of clubs in The Isle of Wight and West Sussex, as well as in the USA. Perhaps his most glamorous job was as PGA teaching professional at Chelsea Piers Golf Club in Manhattan, New York. The only golf club on Manhattan Island.

There he gave golf lessons to several celebrities including Paris Hilton, Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, and was teaching the day the US Airways plane crashed into the Hudson River, close to the golf club. Richard has a special interest in coaching juniors. He is keen to make teaching sessions at St Mellion's Crown Golf Academy fun and interactive, to encourage a life-long interest in golf.

He said: The position of academy manager is a great challenge, which will allow me to use the facilities to offer a diverse range of coaching services to adults and children alike. Crown Golf, the owner of St Mellion, is leading the way in offering new golf initiatives, so this is a great company to be involved with. I am really looking forward to my first season here.'
