A LONG-serving member of North Tawton Town Council has stepped down and been thanked for her service to the council and the town.
Gill Hoggins recently served for a number of years as chairman of the council and, during her 30-plus years as a councillor, has been the council chairman for more than 20 years.
The council’s recently-appointed chairman, Steve Whiteley, extended the council’s thanks to Gill before the July meeting of the council.
He said she was responsible for many things which have been a great benefit to the town and particularly for the establishment of the council offices and the free car park.
Gill wished her former colleagues and the newly-elected councillors well.
She added: ‘Without the support of my late husband Peter and my children Jamie and Louise I could not have put so much time to North Tawton and North Tawton Town Council.’
An engraved vase, flowers and a card were among the items presented to Mrs Hoggins as a ‘thank you’.
Gill is pictured being presented with her gifts by members of the town council.
