Devon one
New Cross 39
North Tawton 0
THE game did not have the most promising start for North Tawton, when lack of communication between the side led to New Cross gaining their first try within minutes from an overlap created.
North Tawton put on the pressure from the next kick off causing New Cross to knock on the ball resulting in a North Tawton scrum. They needed to keep this performance up but were unable to do so.
North Tawton lacked in communication and playing as a team which showed in the final score. Even with the good occasional breaks from forwards Dave Gibbs and Steve King, and plays created by backs Jack Phare and Keith Jones, the lack in support meant nothing was gained from it.
In the second half North Tawton played better, but the attacking play was not enough for them to close the gap. However, in every ruck New Cross kept killing the ball, which worked to their advantage.
This was a woeful and inadequate display by the visitors. The attacking game was halting, the defence ragged. It was almost impossible to isolate a single area of North Tawton's play that was polished.
