NORTHLEW Victory Hall has received a national award recognising its management.

Martin Rich, communities project advisor for Devon Communities Together, presented the hall committee with the Hallmark One Award in recognition of the high standard in the way the village hall is managed.

The Victory Hall in the centre of the village is run as a charity for the benefit of all the parishioners. Achieving the nationally recognised standard highlights the good work done by volunteers in the village to keep the almost 100-year-old building available for community events.

Hallmark One, which focuses on the internal workings of the management committee, might not sound very exciting, said committee members, but it has meant a more positive and quicker way to run a village hall.
