Tavistock AFC U18s Devon Youth Cup Final
ON Sunday Tavistock AFC Under 18's travel to Torquay to play Plymstock United in the finals of the Devon Youth Cup.
This competition which is organised by the Devon Football Association is for all under 18 year old sides in Devon and is considered to be the most prestigious competition for this age group.
In reaching the final TAFC have already beaten sides from Newton St Cyres and Alphington and now face a Plymstock side who are unbeaten in all competitions and who will undoubtedly provide very tough competition.
The match venue is Plainmoor and the kick off time is 2.30pm, the squad would welcome as much Tavistock support as possible to assist them in their efforts to win this valuable competition.
l Tavistock AFC seek to appoint a manager to run their U18's side for the next season.
The role, which is considered within the club to be one of the most important for the future of the club, will involve the development of players emerging from the two Tavistock based Junior football organisations (Thistles and Jets) to ultimately a level where they can be considered for the senior Tavistock squads competing in the South Western and the P&D Combination Premier leagues.
As well as the primary task of ensuring that the club fields a successful Under 18's team a further part of the duties will be to liaise with the managers of the senior squads to advise when a youth player is ready to be tested at a senior level.
Other duties will be to monitor the development of the players in the younger age groups to identify candidates for the future.
