CHILDREN at Okehampton Primary School recreated a snapshot from history recently when they posed for a photo with their teachers in the grounds of Okehampton Castle.
The whole of Year 4 – nearly 90 children – took part in the picture, taken by Times photographer James Bird earlier this month.
It replicates an old black and white photo of children and teachers during a tea party at the castle, which the children discovered during a history project.
Teacher Jasmine Vallance said: ‘This is all part of a joint project with the Museum of Dartmoor Life in Okehampton as preparation for their exhibition to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War.
‘The picture was taken a bit more than 100 years ago, in 1912, of a tea party up at the castle. The teachers all have big floppy hats on and look really grumpy and the children were all sat at tables.
It was interesting to find the exact place up at the castle where the picture was taken.’
