TWO organisations have benefited from £500 donations from Okehampton Rotary Club.
The club president David Potter presented a £500 cheque to Linda Harper, chairman of Okehampton Chamber of Trade, contributing to the cost of providing the excellent Christmas lights in the town. A second £500 cheque was presented to Christine Marsh of the Okement Rivers Improvement Group, helping to pay for new information boards to replace the existing boards and update them.
David Potter said: ‘The Rotary Club is very pleased to be able to support these good causes in Okehampton. Other recent grants were for new music stands for the Okehampton College Big Band and to support the Albert Fullwood Rotary awards at the Okehampton College awards night.
‘Albert Fullwood was a founder member of the Okehampton Rotary Club and its first president over 50 years ago. The club has been supporting local charities and good causes since that time. A contribution will be made shortly to the Okehampton PADs charity, which has been set up to provide defibrillators in the town.
‘I would like to thank all those who attend fund raising functions or make contributions to the club’s funds. Without the generosity of local people, the Rotary Club could not carry out its work.’
