A TAVISTOCK computer training business is hosting an open afternoon next month.
Janet Mashford of Tavistock Recycled Computers and Training Ltd has been teaching adults to use the computer in Tavistock now for 15 years. The shop, in the pannier market surround, is inviting current and past students to visit for the open afternoon on Wednesday, May 1 being held in Tavistock Parish Church Centre.
Janet said a warm welcome will be given to anyone who has been considering getting connected to the internet and learning or developing their computer skills. This would be an ideal opportunity to hear from students of their journey through learning and the fun and sense of community the organisation has developed.
She said: 'We pride ourselves on our motto "Start as a student end as a friend". You are never too old to learn; our oldest past student is now 90 years old and is in constant contact with us all by email. He enjoys his new laptop and broadband the uttermost. If there is a problem we are always on hand at the shop outside the pannier market or by email and telephone.'
There will be a small presentation on the day for those students who have made a marked contribution in learning and their efforts to the assistance of others.
The students are offering refreshments, a home-baked afternoon tea and a donation of £3.50 per person is asked. The proceeds, less the expenses, will be donated to the Salvation Army Tavistock.
Visit the shop for tickets or contact 01822 618865 or just turn up on the day between 1.30pm to 4pm in the parish centre.
