A DARTMOOR Open Water Swim is taking place this July at Roadford Lake — for the first time ever!

Building on the success of its sister event, the Exmoor Open Water Swim, the Dartmoor Open Water Swim, in association with The Pickwell Foundation, will take swimmers to the top of the lake and back — a single 5km loop. There are options to swim either 2.5km, 5km or 10km.

A spokesperson from Dartmoor Open Water Swim said: ‘With an increasing recognition of the environmental challenges that we are facing, we have teamed up with The Pickwell Foundation to encourage greater consideration for the environment as an event and for the competitors taking part. We are proud to have been awarded Plastic Free Status as a business, making Dartmoor Open Water Swim the first plastic free event in the UK. In addition to recycling and zero single plastic use containers at the event, we are minimising our impacts through supplier choice, snacks available and prizes.’
