RETIRING president of the Okehampton Conservative Club Ray Vallance has presented a cheque for £200 to North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team representative Karen Cousins.

Karen is the safeguarding officer for the organisation which provides search and rescue capability for missing and injured people both on and off the moor.

Ray’s other charity was the Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band and he made that cheque presentation at his previous president’s night.

Ray has now passed on the president’s medallion to his wife Margaret, who will take over as the club’s president.
