TAVISTOCK'S branch of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign had its annual gathering last week, letting young people with MD get together to have fun and thank supporters.
After the recent spell of bad weather, making it difficult for wheelchair users to get about, the party gave the young people a chance to meet up and enjoy themselves.
Alison Carreck, branch chairman of the MD campaign, said: 'The party was great. Our MD youngsters really enjoyed getting together. Apart from our annual respite holiday, the party is the only opportunity the youngsters with MD in our group, and our volunteer helpers, have to all meet up and have fun.'
As well as visiting the town and playing games, the party was joined by families and supporters to tuck into a 'pasty and pudding' tea.
'We looked at some photos and a video of our holiday last summer, enjoyed lunch and the pasty and pudding tea, visited the town centre and shops and played some funny games — a chance to laugh at helpers and families looking silly,' said Alison.
'The party was a great opportunity to thank all our supporters and fundraisers from around the area' said Alison.
'Many had come along to join in the fun, and we were able to express our thanks in person for all their hard work.
'Without that the branch wouldn't be able to run the annual holiday, which really is a highlight of the year for the youngsters with MD who come along, and for many of our dedicated young volunteer helpers.'
The Tavistock branch have expressed thanks to all those who have arranged, helped with and supported fundraising events and collections over the past year.
