A CHRISTMAS Day lunch organised by Tavistock Rotary Club for those who will be on their own on December 25 is proving popular — but there are some places still available.

Norrie Philip, Tavistock Rotary’s organiser, has reported a ‘fantastic take up’ of bookings for the lunch in the United Reformed Church in Tavistock.

He said: ‘This promises to be a brilliant party but we still have some places available.

‘Thanks to Tesco, the food will be superb, Santa Claus has agreed to come and there will be lots of fun, singing and, of course, the Queen’s speech.

‘As always, thanks to the generosity of the volunteers, there will be no charge for the day.’

Celebrations begin at 11.30am on Christmas morning. There will be a traditional Christmas turkey dinner, and the Queen’s Christmas message will be broadcast at 3pm, followed by a drink, mince pies and Christmas cake.

Volunteers from Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS) will pick people up and take them home.
